Is Fracking a Profit? Yes or No? Judge for yourself.

In today's economic climate in the Andalusian olive grove, there are many ways of trying to increase family incomes, and not infrequently, quick money is not a good omen.

Hydraulic fracturing, as a means of exploiting unconventional gas, represents a profit, mostly for the companies that obtain it, as well as job creation, but these jobs are not qualified, as most of them are merely watchmen due to the characteristics of the gas extraction technique itself.

As for the companies that support this technique in Andalusia, they have very little known names.
They have very little known names, but their owners are former shareholders of big oil multinationals.
They obtained their permits from the corresponding Environmental Council, but in the exercise of their functions they found themselves in a legal vacuum.
Fracking was not typified in the Law as such, so they were given permits, WITHOUT an Environmental Impact Study and therefore without an Integrated or Unified Environmental Authorisation where applicable.

The goodness of this technique has only been based on the seismic reflection, a kind of ultrasound scan of the ground, covering only 2 km2 of impact, the water used in the technique is contaminated with the chemical waste that is used, the radioactivity and the methane that is released into the atmosphere, all of which cover a much wider range of action.
In addition to a whole range of damage to public assets necessary for the economy of agriculture, rural tourism, forestry, etc.

Our Spanish Constitution typifies environmental crime, as does the Statute of Autonomy of Andalusia.
This means that there is a state legislation on fracking and its consequences, which prevails over the gaps that may exist in the legislation of the Autonomous Communities.
Communities such as La Rioja, Cantabria, Catalonia and Navarre have banned this technique in their territories.

We should demand, at least, an Environmental Impact Study, an Integrated or Unified Environmental Authorisation, a quality legal procedure when the economic engine of our society is at stake and irreparable damage is irreparably affected.
